The weather forecast for the next couple days calls for a high of 45 degrees. Yes, I know, very exciting stuff.  I am watching one of the 4,000 icicles hanging from my roof melt as I type.
The weather forecast for the next couple days calls for a high of 45 degrees. Yes, I know, very exciting stuff.  I am watching one of the 4,000 icicles hanging from my roof melt as I type.  Most important, these balmy conditions seem to be arriving just in time for the beginning of our spring activities season.

Spring sports, spring SPARK, spring musical, spring rafting trip, our annual Red Sox and Yankees baseball trip, prom and graduation are all on the horizon.  It will be a busy final three months for our students.  In fact, our athletic and SPARK seasons begin on Monday. There is a lot to which we can look forward.

However, as tradition would have it, we cannot begin our spring season without first hosting the annual Floor Hockey Tournament.  Part fashion show (see a team uniform above), part competition, it pairs 3 or 4 students with a faculty member in friendly battles against other teams.  It is a lighthearted affair that is so entertaining it even draws out Dr. Riendeau’s athletic elegance for yearly display.  Like Punxsutawney Phil, it poked its head up long enough for people to marvel and take photos, only to retreat in as much fanfare as it arose.  I believe his team lasted much longer this year, or at least played more competitively, than normal.  Perhaps Dr. Riendeau’s lengthy stay ‘above ground’ this year is why we’re all anticipating an early spring?

Of course, this is Massachusetts, which means it could always snow next Wednesday. So, let’s temper our entusiasm about the weather, but still appreciate the exciting few months ahead.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Chris
