It may be two months away, but as we move into April momentum is quickly building for this year’s Prom. Whether it’s prom here at Eagle Hill or at a large public high school like the ones I remember, the very idea of prom brings with it its own culture, language and tradition. We’ve had some great ones over the years here at EHS. The night is a special one for the kids and we have made a few additions to further support all the fun and customs our students experience.

The largest change we are making to this year’s prom is to add a “Promenade” before the students depart campus for the prom destination, Wachusett Mountain. This will be a chance for every student attending to walk the red carpet and be introduced. It will obviously be a great photo opportunity and any parents, faculty or family members wishing to catch a glimpse or snap a picture are encouraged to attend. It will begin at 3pm that day.

We will also have an additional salon on campus to provide the girls another option for hair, makeup and nails as well as haircuts and ‘day-of’ styling for the boys. Of course, the most popular tradition among the students is the post-prom midnight breakfast begun by Mr. Baglio years ago. Mr. Koczur, Mr. Haynes and I will take up spatulas and aprons to continue that for the kids. However, we make no promises on the quality of French toast.

All orders for tuxes, appointments for hair, boutonniere and corsage orders etc…can be done online this year. A link will go live on April 11th for all of you to begin the registration process. If you have any questions please contact Germaine Koczur at gkoczur@ehs1.org

This year’s theme “Young Forever” was recently chosen by the student-led prom committee and May 24th looks to be an especially memorable evening for our kids. Stay tuned for more to come in the weeks ahead.

Have a great weekend,
Chris
