Eagle Hill School Hosts Rick Lavoie

Rick Lavoie, widely hailed as a leading authority on children with learning differences, has traveled the country speaking and delivering his message to over 500,000 parents and professionals.  He has authored many books including “It’s So Much Work to Be Your Friend” and “The Motivation Breakthrough”. Rick also has created the DVD video seminars“How Difficult Can This Be? The F.A.T. City Workshop”, “Beyond F.A.T. City” and “Last One Picked, First One Picked On.”  Eagle Hill School is pleased to host this nationally-recognized author, speaker and educator for two free workshops (Houston, TX and Hardwick, MA) this November.

The first workshop takes place in Houston, Texas on Thursday, November 6th from 10am-12noon at the Houston Country Club.  The workshop: “On the Waterbed: The impact of LD on the Family” is geared toward parents, school personnel and professionals and will focus on assisting families in navigating learning difficulties, offer families tips on supporting their children, discuss effective communication strategies and more. By using the analogy of a waterbed, Rick illustrates how a child struggling in school can disrupt the entire balance at home and at school. It takes professionals and parents working together to foster a spirit of sensitivity, cooperation and a common sense of purpose.

On November 15th from 1-2:30pm Rick Lavoie will be returning to his roots here on the campus of Eagle Hill School. This free workshop is designed for educational professionals, but interested parents will surely benefit as well. The workshop: “The Motivation Breakthrough: 6 Secrets to Turning On the Tuned-Out Child” is based upon Rick’s latest book. It presents an innovative, field-tested model to examine and identify each child’s motivational style and to design strategies that will inspire his or her potential. Specific topics include: the three basic truths of classroom motivation, re-examining traditional classroom approaches, six factors that motivate students, and practical and pragmatic classroom strategies.

Don’t miss these exciting opportunities to hear Rick Lavoie in person!  Both workshops are free and open to the public. For additional information or to save your seat, please contact Sharyn Buelow at Eagle Hill School at 413-477-6000 or sbuelow@ehs1.org.
